Promise of Sun - Book 1
From the opening pages of the first book, the main character is confronting personal loss and a sense of not belonging in space and time. Her erratic environment keeps her questioning her purpose as she continuously adapts both emotionally and geographically to her ever-winding pathway through life. Are they demons or simply something she inherited since birth? The tone of the story, from the first book to the last, is about survival, yet not solely about her perpetual struggle with the outside world; she, almost more importantly, illuminates her turmoil within.
Books 2 and 3
Book 2 presents a more psychological tapestry and attempts to excavate the fallout from Book 1 and the consequences of the characters’ decisions. The relationships presented in Book 1 are intertwined as they deepen, unravel like an unfinished tapestry, and morph into liaisons and people in need of redemption. As the main character pursues a path of self-discovery, she also encounters the severest of betrayals rendering this second book an emotional passageway in the series.
Book 3 concludes this thought-provoking trek, at least this far in her tumultuous life, although not with an ending readers have traditionally come to expect. The ending is authentic and reveals a character who has had to face difficult truths. She found comfort in unexpected ways. The saga concludes in a way that is both thought-provoking and satisfying to the reader.
"Catherine's trilogy will find its place as a modern literary success." - Tricia Black
